Nursecall

The ACC has several options for Nurse Call/Emergency Response applications depending on the specific requirements of the environment . These include dialer based systems that operate over a telephony infrastructure or systems that utilise RS485 technology that are not reliant on the telephone network to be operational in order to function. ACC can also offer, where required, pure IP based Nurse Call/Emergency Response solutions.

Given that nurse/emergency call solutions are often mission-critical, especially within a Hospital, Retirement Village or Aged Care Facility, the ACC recommends systems that have an element of disaster recovery incorporated to ensure a response to any emergency call and that residents/patients have more than one way in which they can initiate an emergency call request.

The ACC's recommendation for emergency call solutions is to use a dedicated medium totally separated from the telephone system and not dependant on the telephone line for sending emergency signals. An emergency request can be initiated via either a duress 'call/cancel' point (generally wall mounted within the unit), or via a pendant style duress call button that can be worn around the neck or on the wrist (like a watch). An effective solution allows for multiple emergency requests to be received simultaneously by an administrator or monitor, as opposed to a telephone dialer based solution where a "clear down" time is required between requests.

In a Retirement Village or ACF environment, the unique ACC Smart Speaker system used in conjunction with an Emergency Response system provides the ability to establish rapid two-way voice response to resident alarms. This provides comfort and reassurance that help is on the way whilst minimising the number of care staff needed.

Emergency Response calls can also be sent as SMS messages to pagers or DECT (cordless) handsets that are carried by care or nursing staff when they are moving around the facility. A prompt response to alarms is therefore assured, especially if the message is received by a DECT handset which enables the staff member to return the call to the number displayed on the handset.

Other options using wireless technology include Geo-positioning for even greater mission-critical applications.

Emergency Call notifications can also be presented on administration computer terminals and/or annunciator panels in key locations.
